A picture a day is a worthy, wonderful, awesome blog project.

But that's not what I'm going to do. :)

I already have a ton of pictures. I don't think I need to take more just to have them on a blog. So, I'm going to take a different approach. I'm going to post pictures I've already taken and tell the story behind them.

I love pictures. I love people. And I love writing. Hopefully, this will work out well for all of us.

My goal is to publish one post a day. Some of the posts will be long. (I am prone to verbosity, after-all.) Some of them will be short. My wish is that each picture-story will help me share the ongoing story that is my life.

That and you'll think I'm cool. :)

Day 235 - Swinging Bridge

Nelson County, VA - on the AT near The Priest.  My buddy, Paul and I once set up 'trail magic' on the far side of the bridge and fed some thru hikers brownies and kool-aid.  :)  Good times.  This pic was taken on my photo outing day with my gal pal, Erin.  Good times, again.

Day 234 - Birds in Flight

This is in the American History Museum in Washington D.C.  It's a mechanical birds in flight display that is mesmerizing.  I love how the light reflection on the glass in the upper right makes it look like a sun.  :)

Day 232 - Balloon Race!

Our church had an ice cream social a few weekends ago and played some games.  This one was a back-to-back balloon race.  I love that Matt's partner was little Violet!  With a little help from her mom, they made a great team!

This picture just makes me happy.  :)

Day 230 - Gumba

I took Gumba to the clinic today for a check-up.  She's not been eating the best for a few weeks and her coat is looking scruffy.  I decided it was time to do some bloodwork on her.

She has not been out of this house in 5 years.  Today's road trip was a wee bit stressful for her.  :(  By the time we got to the clinic, she was panting and had thick saliva ropes hanging from her mouth.

But there was a wonderful surprise waiting!

I came out of an exam room and opened the door to the lobby to allow the client I just saw easy passage.  Standing in the lobby was Ann!  Ann is the sweet teacher who brought Gumba in to the clinic 6 years ago.  Gumba was a tiny kitten who was very injured - Ann brought her in to be put down to end her suffering.  But I asked to have her and she became mine.

Ann and I have talked many times about my sweet Gumba.  And it was such a joy today to be able to let Ann see her - and see how happy and wonderful she is.  Even with one leg missing.

I honestly don't think Gumba was thrilled with the interaction - but I was!  :)

Day 229 - Neema at the Ocean

Charleston, SC - September 2009.  Kiawah beach.  Neema's first trip to the ocean - and she absolutely loved it.  :)

Granted, she drank some salt water while retrieving her toy and got horrible diarrhea - but she still loved it.  I look forward to taking her back there this September.

Isn't she just the prettiest dog?  I love her.  :)
